Year 3 trip to The Collection museum

On Wednesday 10th July the children in year 3 travelled to Lincoln to visit The Collection museum, and learn more about the Romans. Throughout the entire day the children represented Boston West Academy fantastically and were kept very busy. They…

Learnt all about Roman armour and different formations used in the Roman army, including ‘testudo’. The children had to work as a team to protect themselves from enemy fire (beanbags) and listen to their Centurion who gave them orders in Latin…

They also created their own Roman shields…

Had a guided tour of the Roman exhibits…

And even dug up and wrote information about different Roman artefacts they found!

Over the next few days, the children wrote thank you letters to the staff of The Collection, practising their letter writing skills. These letters were then hand-delivered to The Collection staff!
